How to Install & Activate an eSIM on Your Smartphone
Follow the steps below to install your eSIM. Each step is supported by a visual image to help you set up quickly and correctly.
Method 1: Install via QR Code
Get QR Code & Connect to Wi-Fi
Receive the QR code from your carrier (email or print) and connect your iPhone to Wi-Fi.
Open eSIM Settings
Go to Settings → Cellular / Mobile Data → Add eSIM.
Scan QR Code
Tap Use a QR Code (or scan from Photos on newer iOS) and scan the code.
Activate eSIM
Tap Continue and follow on-screen instructions to finish activation.
Method 2: Manual Installation
Tap Add eSIM → Enter Details Manually.
Enter the SM-DP+ address and Activation Code provided by your carrier.
After Installation
- Rename eSIM: Settings → Cellular → select eSIM → label (e.g. Travel eSIM).
- Set Default Line: Choose eSIM for Cellular Data if needed.
- Enable Data Roaming: Turn on Data Roaming for travel eSIMs.
Connect to Wi-Fi
Ensure a stable Wi-Fi connection.
Open Settings
Go to Settings → Connections → SIM card manager.
Add eSIM
Tap Add mobile plan / Add eSIM.
Choose Installation Method
Scan QR Code: Scan the QR from your carrier.
Manual Entry: Enter the activation code (SM-DP+).
Confirm & Activate
Follow prompts and wait for download to complete.
Set as Mobile Data (Optional)
In SIM manager, select the new eSIM as Mobile data.
Open Settings.
Go to Network & internet → SIMs (or + Add SIM).
Tap Download eSIM / Download a SIM instead?
Scan QR Code or Enter code manually if required.
Tap Download to install.
Label eSIM (e.g. Thailand eSIM).
Activation
Turn ON the new eSIM in SIMs.
Set it as Default for Mobile data.
Enable Data Roaming for the eSIM.
